El Gouna Film Festival Announces Dates of its Second Edition

Cairo, Egypt; February, 2017 – The Founding and Executive committee of El Gouna Film Festival announces the dates of the second edition of El Gouna Film Festival is set to take place from the 20 th – 28 th of September 2018, in Egypt’s blissful resort by the Red Sea, El Gouna. Filmmakers from around the world will get the chance to engage with industry experts in hopes of creating an integrated cultural scene across Egypt.

Gouna Film Festival announces the dates of the second edition of El Gouna Film
Festival is set to take place from the 20 th – 28 th of September 2018, in Egypt’s
blissful resort by the Red Sea, El Gouna. Filmmakers from around the world will get
the chance to engage with industry experts in hopes of creating an integrated
cultural scene across Egypt.
The first edition of the Festival which took place in September 2017 with the aim of
being a cultural hub for local and international cinematic figures, adding a new
attraction to the Red Sea’s thriving resort- El Gouna.
During the first edition, outstanding performances were recognized and honored
during the star-studded red carpet closing ceremony which was attended by some of
Hollywood iconic stars such as Forrest Whitaker, Oilver Stone and Vanessa
Williams. International, regional and local film enthusiasts from 42 countries
showcased their work with a total of 74 films being previewed during the seven day
festival.
In hopes of supporting all contemporary forms of creative expressions in the MENA
region, especially between young generations from the Arab world and their
international counterparts, the programme included a wide range of round-tables,
workshops, panel discussions and masterclasses between Arab and international
directors, producers and aspiring filmmakers with the aim of enhancing business
opportunities for Arab cinema.

confidence and we hope that the next edition will bear all the factors that contributed to that
success. Our success will not only push us to expand our efforts, stimulate our agility and
organize ourselves as we maintain our high standard of choice for films, programs and
