​Cairo, August 12, 2018: After a spectacular inaugural edition, the second edition of El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) is making a powerful statement by picking some remarkable films that were acclaimed and awarded at top class festivals like Cannes Film Festival and the Berlinale. The selection, till date, includes productions from Japan, Italy, Poland, Australia and Denmark among others.

Cairo, Egypt; 4 July, 2018 – El Gouna Film Festival is now accepting applications for accreditation for the 2nd edition of CineGouna Platform (CGP), its filmmakers/industry-oriented event, created with the objective of nurturing and strengthening promising Egyptian and Arab cinema projects & filmmakers and to help them find artistic and financial support. The activities of the CGP will take place in El Gouna from September 22 – 27, 2018.

Cairo, Egypt; April 24, 2018 – After a successful first edition, El Gouna Film Festival is pleased to announce that submissions are open as of April, 24 for feature narrative and feature documentary film projects in development as well as films in post-production for the second edition of the festival’s CineGouna Springboard with the deadline for submission set to be July 22, 2018.

Cairo, Egypt; March, 2017 – Kicking off its activities ahead of El Gouna Film Festival’s second edition which is set to take place from the 20th – 28th of September 2018, CineGouna Platform gave out an award at Beirut Cinema Platform (BCP) to Dead Dog by Sarah Francis, guaranteeing the film to be automatically selected as part of CineGouna Springboard’s official selection.

El Gouna, Egypt – 28 September 2017: El Gouna Film Festival announced the winners of CineGouna Platform Awads which was held alongside the festival activities. Egyptian film critic Safaa Al-Lithy initiated the ceremony by presenting the “Samir Farid” Award, by the Egyptian Crutucs Society which went to the film “Scary Mother” by Ana Urushadze.

El Gouna, 28th September, 2017- Renowned global Artist Forest Whitaker and Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris announced at a press conference held on the sidelines of El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) their commitment to join forces in war-torn South Sudan to empower young women and men as catalysts of peace and development in their communities. To this effect, Mr. Naguib Sawiris is entering a partnership with the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative (WPDI), a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2012 by Forest Whitaker to harness the potential of vulnerable youth for peace through mediation, non-violence, reconciliation and entrepreneurship in fragile contexts. Mr. Sawiris has pledged support to the activities of the WPDI in South Sudan.
