About the film

Set in 1956, 8-year-old Nabil struggles to understand the new social norms affecting his best friend who lives next door in post-nationalized Egypt. The story is inspired by real events.

Amir Youssef

Amir Youssef is an Egyptian filmmaker based in San Francisco. In his latest work, Amir focuses on themes of alienation and identity during periods of social and political chaos, while delving into topics of duality, where opposing ideas and emotions coexist. His latest short film Dawn Every Day is currently on the festival circuit. It premiered at Galway Film Fleadh in Ireland and screened at BFI London Film Festival.
