ElGouna Film Festival is thrilled to announce the new awards “Art Behind The Scene”; The award that aims at honoring and recognizing the often overlooked yet essential contributions of behind-the-scenes professionals in filmmaking and celebrates their recent achievements and creative excellence.

"Art Behind the Scene" is a pioneering awards ceremony at the core of the ElGouna Film Festival (GFF), with a distinguished jury composed of members from the Festival's Advisory Board (Egyptian Actress Yousra, Egyptian film director Yousry Nasrallah, Egyptian film director Marwan Hamed, and Tunisian-Egyptian actress and producer Hend Sabry). The initiative highlights individuals who have made significant contributions to filmmaking through their expertise in editing, costume design, cinematography, music composition, and art direction. The ceremony acknowledges the vital, often unsung, roles these professionals play in bringing cinematic visions to life, fostering a spirit of collaboration and multidisciplinary creativity in the film industry.

The newly introduced award consists of two categories: “Art Behind the Scene Career Award” and “Art Behind the Scene Nominations Award”.

The “Art Behind the Scene Career Award” is granted to honorees who have made significant and lasting contributions to filmmaking in fields such as editing, costume design, cinematography, music composition, and art direction. These individuals have played crucial roles in the success of numerous projects over the course of their careers, and the winner for this year (2024) is the renowned Custom Designer Nahed Nasrallah.

The newly introduced “Art Behind the Scene Achievement Awards” aims to recognize individuals whose recent work has demonstrated innovation, creativity, and technical expertise, greatly contributing to the artistic quality and success of film projects released between the previous and current GFF editions. It will be awarded yearly to 2-3 filmmakers  for their work in the five categories: editing, costume design, cinematography, music composition, and art direction.

The winners for this edition are:

1. Abdelsalam Mousa, Cinmatographer

2. Ahmed El Sawy, Musician and Composer

The winners were announced during the Art Behind the Scene Ceremony that took place in El Gouna tonight as part of the seventh edition of ElGouna Film Festival.

Commenting on the Awards Amr Mansi, Executive Director and Co-founder of El Gouna Film Festival said “This award will be one of the most important annual events held on the sidelines of the festival, as it highlights all those working behind the camera to introduce them to the public and appreciate their role. The awards ceremony will be attended by stars and media professionals, making it an opportunity to emphasize the great efforts made by many people to bring the work to light.” Mansy added: “I feel very excited about this award, and I thank the team who worked with me on this project, especially Mariam Naoum, Aya Dawara and Sarah Bissada. I congratulate all the winners, and I also thank the esteemed jury for adopting and supporting the idea of ​​the award.”
