About the film

The director of a nursing home in the Parisian suburbs fights to introduce a humane care method known as Humanitude, in spite of resistance and finds her life changed when she meets a terminally ill Japanese theatre director named Mari Morisaki. Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto won the Best Actress award at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival for their performances in the film.

Renowned Japanese filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi has earned global acclaim for his sensitive storytelling. His masterpiece Drive My Car triumphed at the 2022 Academy Awards by winning Best International Feature Film alongside nominations for Best Picture and Best Director. He subsequently won the Silver Lion & FIPRESCI Prizes at the 2023 Biennale, Venice with Evil Does Not Exist. His  latest feature premiered in competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where its leading actresses shared top honors.
