Cecilia Albertini is a writer/director based in Los Angeles, CA. Born and raised in Milano (Italy), she moved to the United States at 19, completing a BA in Film Studies at Columbia University in 2013 and a Film Directing MFA at UCLA in 2018. Cecilia started her career in film as an actress, starring in feature films and TV shows in Italy. In 2012, she was the recipient of the Giglio d'Argento for Best Actress at the Valdarno Cinema Fedic for her performance in the film La Strada Verso Casa. She then transitioned to writing and directing because she wanted to tell her own stories and was also dissatisfied with the roles written for women. She recently directed and edited the documentary Francis Ford Coppola's Live Cinema, an exclusive insight into Francis Ford Coppola's latest Live Cinema experiment. She also directed an episode for Sanity, a TV Series that was nominated for a Student Emmy Award in 2017. Her short film First Love won the Award of Merit at the Best Shorts Competition and at the Global Shorts competition, and played at the California Women's Film Festival. Cecilia also works as an editor, and she recently edited the award-winning film Afuera, directed by Steven Liang, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2016.
