Shuchi Talati is an Indian filmmaker whose work challenges dominant narratives around gender, sexuality, and South Asian identity. Her debut feature, Girls Will Be Girls, premiered at Sundance, winning both an Audience Award and a Special Jury Award. The film has been supported by major grants like Aide Aux Cinémas du Monde and Sørfond and recognized at Gotham Week and the Berlinale Co-Production Market. Her short film A Period Piece (2019) was selected for SXSW, and Mae and Ash (2013) became a Vimeo Staff Pick. A graduate of the American Film Institute, Shuchi is based in NYC and is part of several creative collectives.
