Intishal Al Timimi is a luminary in the international film festival circuit, revered for his unwavering dedication to Arab cinematic voices. Born in 1954 in Baghdad, Iraq, he earned a master’s degree in journalism from Moscow State University. Throughout his illustrious career, Al Timimi has held esteemed positions including Artistic Director of the Arab Film Festival in Rotterdam; Program Advisor at the International Film Festival Rotterdam; Adviser, Arab Programming, Osian's-Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema, New Delhi. Al Timimi's influence extended to the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, where he served as a Programmer and later as Director of Arab Programming as well as Director of the Sanad Film Fund. Under his leadership, the fund nurtured projects that garnered acclaim at renowned festivals worldwide. He has curated retrospectives of Iraqi cinema at esteemed festivals such as those in Paris, Prague, and Tokyo, and curated programs of Arab Cinema in cities like Mumbai, Munich, and Tallinn. Additionally, he has contributed to the global cinematic dialogue by assembling the program "10 Years of European Cinema" and curating a tribute to Johan van der Keuken for the Ismailia International Film Festival. He is a respected member of the advisory board of Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) and has served on juries for several international film festivals. Beyond his contributions to cinema, Al Timimi is an accomplished photographer and designer, with his work showcased in exhibitions globally. His designs, particularly for Arabic literature book covers, are widely recognized. With over three decades of enriching the cinematic landscape, Al Timimi's legacy continues to inspire and shape the future of Arab Cinema on a global scale.
