A Duet with Fellini in Films and Dreams

Gianfranco Angelucci is a director, scriptwriter, advertising expert and TV producer living and working in Rome. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Bologna with a dissertation on Fellini’s Satyricon. Then he moved to Rome and worked alongside Fellini in various capacities, but mostly as a screenwriter. The turning point in his professional career and personal life was this encounter with the famous Italian director.In 1987 he authored the screenplay for Fellini’s Intervista, recipient of a special prize at the Cannes Film Festival and the First Prize at the Moscow Film Festival.

Angelucci is the director of a feature film, Miele di Donna(Honey)(1981), and the author of several novels and publications among which are: Federico F. (2000), a semi-fictional story on Fellini’s last months, Segreti e bugie di Federico Fellini(Secrets and Lies by Federico Fellini) (2013), a narration through the life and work of Fellini; and GiuliettaMasinaattrice e sposa di Federico Fellini (GiuliettaMasina, actress and wife of Federico Fellini) (2014), a work focused on the relationship between the two artists. He has also edited various publications on Fellini’s works.

He produced numerous TV reports and directed a two-episode homage to Fellini. In 1993, he supervised the restoration of Fellini’s entire film production. After the Maestro’s death, he took charge of the Fellini Foundation. In this conversation with Gianfranco Angelucci, we will be gaining first-hand insight into the backstage stories of the great master’s works, their meanings and messages; along with anecdotes about his personal life – his victories, trials and tribulations. We will be looking at a portrait painted by Fellini’s trusted apprentice, his proud protégé; enriched with countless colors of the two decades they spent together behind the camera.
