Kaouther Ben Hania to Head the Short Film Competition Jury of the 74th Cannes Film Festival

Tunisian director and GFF alumna Kaouther Ben Hania was announced as the Head of the Short Films and the Cinéfondation Film School competitions jury, that will be awarding the Short Film Palme d'or to the winning film at the  74th  Cannes International Film Festival.

Ben Hania received several awards and accolades at GFF. Her 2018 short Sheikh's Watermelons received the Best Arab Film award at the 2nd  edition of GFF. Her Oscar nominated film The Man Who Sold His Skin received several awards as a project in development and film in post-production at CineGouna Platform. It was also named Best Arab Film at the 4th edition of GFF. 

 It was earlier announced that Ben Hania will be joined by Egyptian director Sameh Alaa, director of the Palme d’or winning film  I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face.

The 74th  Cannes Film Festival has been rescheduled to take place from July 6-17, 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic.
