About the Film

Chela and Chiquita are both descended from wealthy families. When their financial situation worsens, they start selling off their inherited possessions. But when their debts lead to Chiquita being imprisoned on fraud charges, Chela begins to provide a local taxi service to a group of wealthy elderly ladies. She finally begins to come out of her shell and engage with the world, embarking on her own personal, intimate revolution.

Director

Marcelo Martinessi

Marcelo Martinessi is a director and screenwriter born in Asunción, Paraguay in 1973. He studied communication in his hometown, followed by film at the London Film School. His short films, which revolve around literature and memory, have screened at various festivals including the Berlinale and Clermont-Ferrand. He was executive director of his country’s first public television station from 2010 up to the coup d’état in 2012. His attempt at coming to terms with the ensuing political chaos gave rise to his short film La Voz Perdida / The Lost Voice, which won the Orizzonti Prize for Best Short at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival.
