About the film

Eight Postcards from Utopia is an archival documentary crafted entirely from post-socialist Romanian advertisements. Through these clips, the film explores themes of life, love, death, human frailty, nature, and the contrasts between socialism and capitalism.

Radu Jude, Christian Ferencz-Flatz

Radu Jude is a Romanian filmmaker known for his critically acclaimed films like The Happiest Girl in the World (2009), Aferim! (2015), and Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn (2021). His work has garnered numerous awards and international recognition.Christian Ferencz-Flatz is a Romanian philosopher specializing in phenomenology, critical theory, and film philosophy. He teaches at the National University of Theatre and Film and has published extensively on these topics. His research interests include post-socialist advertising.
