More About Film

The very famous aria from Carmen warns us “L’amour est enfant de bohèmeIl n’a jamais, jamais connu de loiSi tu ne m’aimes pas, je t’aime Si je t’aime, prends garde à toi”Love is a gipsy child it has never known a law if you don’t love me, I love you if I love you, be on your guardOlivia & the Clouds represents this eternal truth  avoiding Bizet’s tragic  tones, instead using a delightful palette that colors the story in all possible styles of animation.
Olivia, haunted by a past love, hides it under her bed. She trades flowers with this ghost in exchange for comforting rain clouds. Barbara, rejected by Mauricio, escapes reality through fantastical stories. Mauricio, full of regrets, is swallowed by the earth. Ramon, smitten by Olivia, witnesses the growth of a strange plant mirroring her but, most  importantly, mirroring Mauricio’s need to be loved.   It is not so much the plot  that is important though, what matters in this highly original and very elegant film is the way the emotions are portrayed, amplified in colorful images or fading in the absence of color, the words are colorful threads that hover in the air and try to connect people, sometimes succeeding in doing it sometimes not.
Olivia and the Clouds  is a triumph of shapes, colors, sounds and music in which an elusive Cupid weaves fates and feelings, originating memories and nostalgia that will  never leave either beloved or lovers.Teresa Cavina
