Hogir Hirori was born in 1980 in Duhok, Kurdistan. In 1999 he fled to Sweden, living in Stockholm since then. He works as a freelance photographer, editor, and director. Hirori’s The Deminer made its world premiere at the 30th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, where it received the Special Jury Award for Feature-Length Documentary. The film has traveled to more than 50 international film festivals and aired on more than 30 stations worldwide. His film Sabaya received several accolades and acclaim and won him the World Cinema Documentary Award at the 37th Sundance Film Festival.
