Director

Mohsen Gharaei

Mohsen Gharaei (born 1984, Iran) studied mining engineering at the University of Tehran before starting his cinema career in 2007 as an assistant director with prominent filmmakers like Majid Majidi and Bahram Bayzai. After co-directing Don’t Be Tired! (2013), his solo feature debut Blockage (2017) won Best Film at the Busan International Film Festival. He earned further critical acclaim as a screenwriter, winning a Crystal Simorgh for Castle of Dreams (2019) and directing the hit drama Without Everything (2021). His international drama Falling House premiered in the Orizzonti section at the Venice Biennale.
