Kim A. Snyder is a director/producer who graduated with a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. She directed the Peabody Award-winning documentary Newton, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival’s US Competition. Newton was screened at many prestigious film festivals around the world and its theatrical release was followed by a broadcast on Netflix and PBS’s Independent Lens. Snyder’s prior works include her award-winning directorial debut feature documentary I Remember Me as well as the feature documentary Welcome to Shelbyville, which was broadcast on PBS’s Independent Lens in 2011, and over a dozen short documentaries. In 1994, she was the associate producer of the Academy Award-winning short Trevor, which spawned The Trevor Project, a leading national nonprofit addressing LGBTQ teen suicide.
