Sherief Elkatsha, a versatile director, born in the US, raised in Cairo, lived in Brooklyn, now based in Cairo, has cultivated a diverse and accomplished career in the world of filmmaking.

Elkatsha's recent work includes the captivating documentary Far from the Nile (2022), offering an intimate cultural journey with 12 musicians from different countries along the Nile River. His talent also shone in the commissioned short documentary featuring the traditional Egyptian musical band, Mohamed Abozekry & Karkadé, commissioned by Center Stage and the New England Foundation for the Arts in 2018.

In 2013, Elkatsha premiered Cairo Drive, earning it the esteemed title of Best Film from the Arab World at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. The documentary garnered accolades worldwide.

Elkatsha's collaborative effort in 2007, co-directing Egypt: We are Watching You (2007) as part of the Why Democracy series, showcased his commitment to storytelling and documentary filmmaking. His body of work exemplifies his dedication to capturing compelling narratives.
