El Gouna Film Festival is proud to announce that IEFTA (International Emerging Talent Film Association) that collaborated with the festival’s CineGouna Platform 2018, has selected 2 projects for its Global Film Expression initiatives.
A Monaco-based, non-profit, non-governmental organization, the IEFTA (International Emerging Talent Film Association) organises, finances and promotes festivals, exhibition, education and development.
Focusing on the world’s developing regions, IEFTA’s Global Film Expression provides opportunity and education to those who have no access to the resources for cinematic expression.
The IEFTA’s participation at GFF 2018 allowed its team to connect with CineGouna SpringBoard’s participants and identify contenders for its initiative. The 2 projects that the IEFTA selected from among those that were pitched at the 2 nd edition of the CineGouna Platform are Yam and I (Director Nadine Salib, Lebanon) and Off Khartoum Sides (Director: Marwa Zein, Sudan).
The producer of Yam and I, Ruba Atiyeh will participate in CineMart, International Film Festival Rotterdam, January 2019. CineMart has a rich history of presenting daring, innovative and independent film projects.
Marwa Zein, director of Off Khartoum Sides has been selected to participate in Marché du Film’s Industry Workshops at the Cannes Film Festival, May 2019.
May Odeh from Palestine and Kismet El Sayed from Egypt, participants of the inaugural edition of El Gouna Film Festival’s CineGouna Platform were selected to participate in Producers Network and Industry Workshops organized by the Marche du Film at Cannes Film Festival, 2018, respectively.
Kismet El Sayed was also selected to participate IEFTA’s partner programme Up and Coming Producers at the TorinoFilmLab.
“The El Gouna Film Festival attaches a lot of value to its collaborations such as the one with IEFTA. The combined benefits of such partnerships create new opportunities for networking and further sharing their projects or films with global markets and enhance their chances for co-
production and distribution. As long as all partners are able to achieve their defined and common objectives, a sustainable and healthy future for such partnership can be ensured. -
Intishal Al Timimi, Festival Director
