EL GOUNA FILM FESTIVAL CALLS FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS FOR ITS THIRD EDITION

The third edition of the festival, which will take place from September 19 to 27, 2019, now

invites entries of Feature Narrative, Documentary and Short films from all parts of the world. The 2nd edition of El Gouna Film Festival screened 74 films, representing 42 countries. More than US $220,000 was awarded to winning films screened in the competitive sections of the festival. The festival honored luminaries such as leading Tunisian producer Dora Bouchoucha, pioneering filmmaker Daoud Abdel Sayed and iconic actor Sylvester Stallone.

 

Through screenings of their films, exhibition of related posters and panel discussions, GFF also paid tribute to three renowned filmmakers: Youssef Chahine, marking 10 years since his death; Ingmar Bergman, celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth; and Federico Fellini, commemorating the 25th anniversary of his death in October 2018.https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif

 

“The ultimate goal of the process of programming and selecting films for El Gouna Film Festival has been to create a festival experience that enriches both filmmakers and the audience,” said Intishal Al Timimi, festival director; adding, “we are fortunate that our team’s knowledge of international cinema and film professionals enables us to access wide-ranging options.”

 

“The growth in the number of entries received from the first to the second edition of our festival indicates the success of the programming team in attracting the most important films of the year to have their MENA premiere at GFF among a diverse range of films—from awarded and acclaimed films to new cinematic discoveries. This success places an even greater responsibility on our shoulders to maintain and improve the quality of our selection,” said Amir Ramses, artistic director.

With an aim to foster better communication between cultures through the art of filmmaking, the past editions of the Festival have succeeded in highlighting the people, films and projects shaping the film industry in the Middle East and beyond. The 2nd edition of our festival attracted the participation of 720 international filmmakers, buyers, distributors and sales agents, and 700 accredited local, regional and international media representatives. The screenings and events recorded 29,000 footfalls, a number that is expected to rise. The pleasant location along with the activities planned promise to make the 3rd edition an unmissable rendezvous for film professionals and film lovers from all around  the world.
