Goodbye Julia to have its MENA Premiere at the 6th El Gouna Film Festival, Egypt 

Cairo, Egypt, May 14, 2023

The highly anticipated film Goodbye Julia, written and directed by Mohamed Kordofani, will have its MENA premiere at the 6th edition of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF). The festival is scheduled to take place from October 13 to 20, 2023 in the resort town of El Gouna, Egypt.

Goodbye Julia is a compelling story about Mona, a retired north Sudanese singer who after covering up a murder, tries to make amends by taking in the deceased’s south Sudanese widow, Julia, and her son, Daniel, into her home. The film has already received significant attention in the industry and is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in May 2023.

El Gouna Film Festival is proud to host the MENA premiere of Goodbye Julia.

Amjad Abu Alala is the producer of Goodbye Julia, his directorial feature debut, You will Die at 20,  won the Lion of the Future award for Best First Feature at the Venice Days and had its MENA premiere at  El Gouna Film Festival where it won the El Gouna Gold Star for  Best Film.

Abu Alala said: "I am thrilled to return to El Gouna Film Festival with Goodbye Julia. Mohamed Kordofani is a very  talented director, and his film is a compelling narrative that speaks to  the human experience. The World Sales for Goodbye Julia will be managed by  Mad Solutions, one of the top distribution companies that aims to provide a platform for award-winning independent Arab and international filmmakers whose works face significant challenges in reaching audiences beyond the festival circuit.
