Carthage Film Festival (JCC) concluded its 30th edition by announcing the 2019 award winners; and we are happy that some of GFF’s 2019 Arab honorees scored JCC’s main awards.

Superstar Hend Sabri won Best Actress Award for her role in Hinde Boujemaa’s Noura’s Dream; the same award she won at this year’s edition of GFF. Noura’s Dream was also awarded Gold Tanit for Feature Film at JCC. 

Silver Tanit for Feature Film went to Atlantics by Mati Diop, which also won the Best Original Music Award, the Bronze Tanit for Feature Film went to Shahad Ameen’s Scales, while Best Actor Award was given to Elyes Salem for his role in Amin Sidi-Boumediene’s Abou Leila

Gold Tanit for Feature Documentary went to Suhaib Gasmelbari‘s Talking About Trees; following its earlier win of El Gouna Golden Star for Documentary Film. While JCC’s Silver Tanit for Feature Documentary was awarded to For Sama by Waad AL-Kateab and Edward Watts, and the Bronze Tanit for Feature Documentary went to A Haunted Past by Fatma Riahi.

All Comes from Dust by Younes Ben Slimane received the Golden Tanit for Short Documentary, while Amin Lakhnech’s True Story received the Golden Tanit for Short Narrative.

Amjad Abu Alala’s You Will Die at Twenty received the Taher Cheriaa Debut Film Award, Best Screenplay Award for Feature Film, and the FIPRESCI Award. Abu Alala’s masterpiece was awarded El Gouna Golden Star for Narrative Film last September. 

Last but not least; Best Editing Award, Best Photography the Award and Award of the African Federation of Film Critics were given to Maryam Touzani’s Adam; which was also among GFF’s main winners by receiving El Gouna Bronze Star for Narrative Film at the 2019 edition of GFF.
