Claus Drexel, of Bavarian origin, spent most of his life in France. After graduating from film school, he worked as a director of photography. His career as a director began with short films C 4 (1996), The Operating Theatre (1998) and The Divine Inspiration (2000). The films participated in more than a hundred festivals worldwide and won several awards. His first feature film Family Values (2008) won the Best Screenplay Award given by CNC. On the Edge of the World, his documentary film about the homeless people of Paris, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (ACID) and went on to win the Grand Prize of the International Francophone Film Festival in Germany. The film was shown at the prestigious National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.
