About the Film

In Rod El Farag, one of the poorest residential areas in Cairo, obtaining daily needs is a constant struggle, but the inhabitants overcome their hardships through a social practice known as ‘Al Gami’ya’ (The Assembly). The assembly serves as a portal to penetrate the lives of the film’s characters.

Reem Saleh

Reem Saleh graduated from the Lebanese American University in Beirut with a BA in radio, TV, film and psychology. She began her career as a theater and film actor and has been assistant director in a number of films (i.e. When Maryam Spoke Out by Assad Fouladkar). She has directed the short film The Naked Eye (2002), the stage play Wings, written by Arthur Kopit, and numerous television documentaries for MTV Lebanon and Rotana Enterprise. In 2006 she started to work for the Al Jazeera Children’s Channel as a producer and voice-over artist. What Comes Around is her first feature documentary.
