About the Film

The movie explores the troubled psychology of Amine, a reserved man living in a small Saharan village. He meets Nour, a strong young woman, in a house near the city of Timimoun.
They are supposed to launch an armed operation against an oil refinery, but things do not turn out quite as they expected.

Director

Merzak Allouache

Merzak Allouache was born in Algeria in 1944. He studied filmmaking in Algiers at the Institut National du Cinéma and subsequently at IDHEC (now known as La Fémis) in Paris. In 1976, he directed his first feature, Omar Gatlato, which received the Silver Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival. Since then, he has been directing films between France and Algeria. His works frequently get selected in prestigious international festivals such as Cannes, Berlin and Venice.
