About the Film

Nine-year-old Marwa, along with her mother and two siblings, are stranded in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan, where they arrived in 2012 after escaping war in Syria. Four months into camp life, Marwa innocently thinks that they would only stay there for another week or two. Over the ensuing four years, the film follows Marwa’s life. As she blossoms from a child into a young woman, events reveal the depth of the emotional impact war can have on a little girl. Tiny Souls focuses on daily challenges, humor, friction, a range of survival sentiments, and above all, resilience. Events escalate as the somewhat settled life is unexpectedly disrupted.
